The band name started back in 1999 in Mankato, MN.  The group originally only had three members, but grew to as many as six.  The idea for the name of the group came from watching thunderstorms roll into Mankato from the top of a roof in which we were sitting.  We were trying to think of a band name at the time and said to our selves, those are some Threatening Skies up there!  That's how it came about.

 

In 2009, ten years after it all started, a new group of people minus two of the original members (*)make up Threatening Skies.  The new group is made up of five members with the following lineup:
